This study used the Discrete Element Method (DEM) coupled with the Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) method to investigate the process of drying in the centrifugal unit of a pelletizing system in polymer processing. The effects of various flight angles (10°, 45°, and 70°) and rotor speeds (1280, 1600, and 1920 rpm) on drying efficiency, polymer pellet transport, polymer pellet accumulation, and power consumption were examined. The results showed that the flight angle significantly influenced drying performance. At 1600 rpm, the 10° flight angle configuration required the least power (10.94 kW) but resulted in inefficient water separation, which led to an increase in water droplets (i.e., higher moisture content) in the upper part of the centrifugal unit and near the outlet. With a 70° flight angle, water removal was most effective, but polymer pellet transport efficiency was lower due to centrifugal forces becoming dominant. A 45° flight angle provided the best balance between drying efficiency and power consumption, requiring 16.42 kW while achieving the most efficient polymer pellet transport. Rotor speed also played a crucial role: lower speeds enhanced water removal and reduced power demand but limited throughput, whereas higher speeds facilitated centrifugal separation at the cost of increased power consumption. The optimal combination of the rotor speed and flight angle was found to be 45° at 1280 rpm, which offered an effective trade-off between drying performance and power efficiency. Full article

This study investigates the consistent and uniform movement of two spherical particles within an infinite porous medium saturated with a couple stress fluid, with a particular focus on the effects of surface slippage. The research reveals that surface slippage significantly reduces the drag force experienced by the particles, thereby influencing their hydrodynamic interactions. Conversely, increases in permeability and particle size similarity tend to enhance both the drag force and the inter-particle interaction forces, affecting the overall dynamics of particle motion. The analysis is conducted within the low-Reynolds-number regime, characteristic of laminar flow dominated by viscous forces, and employs boundary collocation methodologies to derive semi-analytical solutions to the governing differential equations. This approach enables a detailed characterization of the flow behavior and inter-particle forces in intricate fluid environments, including those with porous matrices and complex rheological properties. The findings from this investigation are consistent with prior numerical analyses, notably those conducted by Alotaibi and El-Sapa (2025), and corroborate earlier studies by Shehadeh and Ashmawy (2019), which examined cases of no slippage and permeability effects. Additionally, the results align with earlier research by Shreen et al. (2018) concerning viscous fluids, thereby reinforcing the validity of the conclusions. Overall, the study enhances the understanding of particle-fluid interactions in porous, couple stress-rich media, providing valuable insights into the roles of surface slippage, permeability, and particle size in determining hydrodynamic forces. This study assessed the shear bond strength (SBS) and failure modes of lithium disilicate ceramic veneering material to different high-performance polymers. Thirty-six square specimens measuring 7 × 7 × 2 ± 0.05 mm were prepared from pure polyetheretherketone (PEEK), Bio-high performance PEEK (BioHPP) and Trilor discs. Polymer specimens were air-borne abraded utilizing aluminum oxide particles, cleaned, and a bonding agent was applied (visio. link). The veneering LDC material (3 × 2 mm) was milled, hydrofluoric acid etched (9.5%) and primed (Clearfil ceramic). The LDC was bonded to the polymer specimens using dual-cured resin cement (Panavia V5) and light polymerized. The bonded specimens were subjected to 5000 cycles of physiological aging by thermocycling, and the SBS test was performed in a universal testing machine at 0.5 mm/min cross-head speed. The debonded specimens were analyzed to determine the primary bond failure sites (adhesive, mixed or cohesive). Data analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA and a post hoc Tukey test (α ≤ 0.05). The BioHPP material demonstrated the highest SBS values (23.94 ± 1.43 MPa), and the Trilor group recorded the lowest SBS values (17.09 ± 1.07 MPa). The PEEK group showed a mean SBS of 21.21 ± 1.51 MPa. The SBS comparison showed significant variations across all material groups (p < 0.001). Regarding failure modes, adhesive failure was observed in 40% of BioHPP and PEEK specimens and 90% of Trilor specimens. The cohesive failure occurred in 50% of PEEK and 30% of BioHPP specimens, while the Trilor specimens showed no cohesive failure. Mixed failures were reported in 30% of BioHPP and 10% of PEEK and Trilor specimens. The BioHPP material demonstrated high SBS followed by PEEK and Trilor. The SBS between the tested materials was statistically significant. However, the SBS of the tested implant framework materials was above the limit stipulated by the ISO 10477 standard (5 MPa) and the clinically acceptable range of 10–12 MPa. Full article

Background and Objectives: A meta-analysis was conducted to assess the probable association of hypertension during pregnancy and placenta accreta (PA). Materials and Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted up to November 2024, resulting in the identification of 10 studies encompassing 128,589 pregnant women. They reported associations between the possible impacts of hypertension during pregnancy and PA. The odds ratio (OR), with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), was computed to evaluate the possible association of hypertension during pregnancy and PA, utilizing a dichotomous approach with either a random or fixed-effect model. Results: No significant difference was found between hypertension during pregnancy and control (no hypertension during pregnancy) in the occurrence of PA (OR, 0.74; 95% CI, 0.52–1.04, p = 0.08). Also, no significant difference was found between pregnant women with PA and control (no PA) in the occurrence of hypertension (OR, 1.15; 95% CI, 0.61–2.19, p = 0.66). Conclusions: Hypertension during pregnancy has no impact on the occurrence of PA, and vice versa. More research is desired to approve these outcomes. Full article

Acute alcoholic liver injury (AALI) remains a significant global health concern, primarily driven by oxidative stress. This study investigated the protective mechanisms of Weizmannia coagulans BC99 against alcohol-induced oxidative stress using a dual model in rats and Caenorhabditis elegans. In rats, excessive alcohol was predominantly metabolized via the CYP2E1 pathway, leading to severe oxidative stress. However, intervention with BC99 suppressed CYP2E1 expression and enhanced antioxidant enzyme activities through the Nrf2/SKN-1 pathway, thereby alleviating oxidative stress. Additionally, BC99 treatment elevated glutamate and aspartate levels while reducing glycerate and glucose, which collectively increased glutathione levels and mitigated oxidative stress triggered by glucose metabolism disorders. In C. elegans, BC99 reduced excessive ROS by upregulating Nrf2/skn-1, daf-16, and their downstream antioxidant genes, consequently alleviating the biotoxicity associated with alcohol-induced oxidative damage. The protective effects of BC99 were markedly diminished in the skn-1 mutant (GR2245) and daf-16 mutant (CF1038), further confirming the pivotal roles of SKN-1 and DAF-16 pathways in BC99-mediated antioxidant protection. Taken together, these findings reveal that BC99 mitigates alcohol-induced oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2/SKN-1 pathway and regulating liver metabolites to eliminate excess ROS, thereby providing a theoretical basis for the application of probiotics in preventing acute alcoholic liver injury. This study investigated the protective effect of Dai Bai Jie (DBJ) extract against acute alcoholic liver injury (AALI) and elucidated its potential mechanism. The total saponin level in the DBJ extracts was measured using vanillin–chloroform acid colorimetry. To observe the preventive and protective effects of DBJ on AML-12 cells in an ethanol environment, the effective components of DBJ were identified. An alcohol-induced AALI mouse model was used to evaluate the efficacy of DBJ against AALI. For this purpose, alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) levels were assessed, liver function indices and oxidative and inflammatory markers were determined, and histopathological examinations were performed. Mechanistic investigations were conducted using RT-qPCR assays and immunohistochemical analysis to determine the protective effects of DBJ. The samples (DBJ-1, DBJ-2, and DBJ-3) were obtained by extracting DBJ with water, 50% ethanol, and 95% ethanol, yielding total saponin contents of 5.35%, 6.64%, and 11.83%, respectively. DBJ-3 was isolated and purified, and its components were identified by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-MS). DBJ-3 had the greatest effect on cell viability in an ethanol environment. Moreover, DBJ-3 reduced inflammatory infiltration, liver cell degeneration, and hemorrhage, while increasing ADH and ALDH levels in liver tissues. Additionally, DBJ-3 considerably decreased the serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total cholesterol (TC), and triglyceride (TG) levels. DBJ-3 reduced malondialdehyde (MDA), reactive oxygen species (ROS), and inflammatory factors, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and interleukin 6 (IL-6), while increasing superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activities. Furthermore, DBJ-3 significantly increased alcohol dehydrogenase 1b (ADH1B) and aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) expression at the gene and protein levels within alcohol metabolism pathways and reduced the nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) gene and protein levels. These findings suggest that DBJ-3 can prevent AALI by enhancing alcohol metabolism via the regulation of ADH1B and ALDH2 and the modulation of the NF-κB pathway to improve antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. The number of new vulnerabilities continues to rise significantly each year. Simultaneously, vulnerability databases have challenges in promptly sharing new security events with enough information to improve protections against emerging cyberattack vectors and possible exploits. In this context, several organizations adopt strategies to protect their data, technologies, and infrastructures from cyberattacks by implementing anticipatory and proactive approaches to their system security activities. To this end, vulnerability management systems play a crucial role in mitigating the impact of cyberattacks by identifying potential vulnerabilities within an organization and alerting cyber teams. However, the effectiveness of these systems, which employ multiple methods and techniques to identify weaknesses, relies heavily on the accuracy of published security events. For this reason, we introduce a discussion concerning existing vulnerability detection methods through an in-depth literature study of several research papers. Based on the results, this paper points out some issues related to vulnerability databases handling that impact the effectiveness of certain vulnerability identification methods. Furthermore, after summarizing the existing methodologies, this study classifies them into four approaches and discusses the challenges, findings, and potential research directions. Full article

Background and Objectives: Despite the identified benefits of early implant loading, studies have questioned its advantages compared to delayed loading in edentulous patients. This study aimed to evaluate clinical peri-implant parameters and marginal bone loss around early placed and loaded mandibular implant overdentures with a 60-month follow-up. Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort study, 43 patients were enrolled to receive 86 early loading sub-crestal dental implants through prosthetic guides. Implant overdentures were supported by two isolated implant locator attachments between two mental foramens. Clinical peri-implant parameters, including plaque index (PI), bleeding index (BI), peri-implant pocket depth (PIPD), and marginal bone loss (MBL) were evaluated using standardized techniques at 1, 12, 24, 36, 48, and 60 months follow-up. At 60 months, complications associated with implant overdentures (IOD’s) were noted. The mean comparison of peri-implant clinical parameters was performed through ANOVA test. A p-value of ≤0.05 was taken as significant. Results: Out of the total 43 enrolled patients, 8 patients were lost during follow-up; as a result, 35 patients completed the 5 years follow-up. The mean values of PI, BI, and PIPD increased with no statistical difference (p > 0.05). For marginal bone loss, an increase in the mean values was noted at different time intervals with statistical differences (p < 0.001). The most common complications noted were loosening of the abutment, occlusal adjustment, retentive locator loosening and replacement, and relining of the denture. Conclusions: Early placement of IODs failed to prevent bone loss over time and was associated with complications, predominantly consisting of abutment loosening, occlusal adjustments, broken retentive locator components, relining, and rebasing. Gellan gum (GG) is a linear, negatively charged exopolysaccharide that is biodegradable and non-toxic. When metallic ions are present, a hard and transparent gel is produced, which remains stable at a low pH. It exhibits high water solubility, can be easily bio-fabricated, demonstrates excellent film/hydrogel formation, is biodegradable, and shows biocompatibility. These characteristics render GG a suitable option for use in food, biomedical, and cosmetic fields. Thus, this review paper offers a concise summary of microbial polysaccharides. Moreover, an in-depth investigation of trends in different facets of GG, such as biosynthesis, chemical composition, and physical and chemical properties, is emphasized. In addition, this paper highlights the process of extracting and purifying GG. Furthermore, an in-depth discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of GG concerning other polysaccharides is presented. Moreover, the utilization of GG across different industries, such as food, medicine, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc., is thoroughly examined and will greatly benefit individuals involved in this field who are seeking fresh opportunities for innovative projects in the future. This paper introduces a new derivation of the radix-22 fast algorithm for the forward odd new Mersenne number transform (ONMNT) and the inverse odd new Mersenne number transform (IONMNT). This involves introducing new equations and functions in finite fields, bringing particular challenges unlike those in other fields. The radix-22 algorithm combines the benefits of the reduced number of operations of the radix-4 algorithm and the simple butterfly structure of the radix-2 algorithm, making it suitable for various applications such as lightweight ciphers, authenticated encryption, hash functions, signal processing, and convolution calculations. The multidimensional linear index mapping technique is the conventional method used to derive the radix-22 algorithm. However, this method does not provide clear insights into the underlying structure and flexibility of the radix-22 approach. This paper addresses this limitation and proposes a derivation based on bit-unscrambling techniques, which reverse the ordering of the output sequence, resulting in efficient calculations with fewer operations. Butterfly and signal flow diagrams are also presented to illustrate the structure of the fast algorithm for both ONMNT and IONMNT. The proposed method should pave the way for efficient and flexible implementation of ONMNT and IONMNT in applications such as lightweight ciphers and signal processing. The algorithm has been implemented in C and is validated with an example. Full article

Pakistan depends heavily on the Indus River Basin System (IRBS) which is essential for meeting the great majority of Pakistan’s agricultural and home consumption requirements. The Indus River is responsible for over 90% of Pakistan’s agricultural output and accounts for 25% of the country’s GDP. Because of the problems with the water supply, Pakistan may soon face serious food scarcity. By 2025, the water deficit is expected to reach 32%, according to the World Bank’s 2020–2021 study, leading to a food deficit of about 70 million tons. Recent predictions suggest that by 2025, the water storage capacity will have reduced by over 30% due to climate change. Extreme events, i.e., temperature and precipitation, occurred in Pakistan, and these affect human beings. Pakistan has a very low per capita water storage capacity, at about 150 m3. As a result of decreasing surface water supplies and rising groundwater abstraction, the viability of irrigated agriculture may soon be threatened. To maximize the potential for increased storage, Pakistan must enhance its water-use efficiency and implement sustainable strategies for managing its groundwater and surface water resources. The crucial aspects in keeping irrigated agriculture viable in the Indus Basin are developing the infrastructure and eliminating distrust among the provinces. Full article

Awareness of Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors by Community Pharmacists in Saudi Arabia

Background: Pharmacists in community settings are recognized as highly accessible healthcare practitioners and demonstrate a crucial role in the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Evidence indicates that community pharmacists can make a significant impact on controlling cardiovascular disease risk factors, particularly on hypertension. Objectives: We aimed to assess the knowledge of community pharmacists in Saudi Arabia regarding cardiovascular disease risk factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving community pharmacists was conducted. The knowledge of cardiovascular disease risk factors was assessed with the Heart Disease Fact Questionnaire (HDFQ). A web link for an anonymous questionnaire was shared with the licensed community pharmacists in Saudi Arabia using the “Seha” platform of the Ministry of Health. Data analysis was performed with R version 4.0.5. Results: Three hundred seventy-four community pharmacists responded to the questionnaire. Many community pharmacists (94.4%) had satisfactory awareness of cardiovascular disease risk factors. The odds of having satisfactory HDFQ knowledge for community pharmacists seeing more than 20 individuals with diabetes per month were 20 times (AOR = 19.9, 95% CI: 1.73–260, and p = 0.019) more compared to those seeing fewer than 10 individuals with diabetes per month. The age of the community pharmacists and the average number of individuals with diabetes seen per month were found to be factors associated with satisfactory HDFQ knowledge. Conclusion: The practicing pharmacists had a substantial understanding of cardiovascular disease risk factors. In line with counseling and education, the implementation of community pharmacy models for improving the knowledge of pharmacists, particularly the young pharmacists, is needed to effectively assist patients with cardiovascular disease. In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), entrepreneurship in the agriculture sector remains for youth a key pillar for income creation. However, few are attracted by agribusiness despite stakeholders’ efforts toward engaging youth in agriculture. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between entrepreneurial potential characteristics and youth desirability to start an enterprise in agriculture among 514 young people in Eastern DRC. This study revealed that youth in South Kivu have different entrepreneurship potential features and agribusiness desirability levels according to their gender and living area. Hence, the youth’s agribusiness desirability is motivated by an awareness of emerging agripreneurial activities, land ownership, parent involvement in farming activities as a role model, perceived agribusiness as an employment source, management-organizing and opportunistic competencies, market analysis, negotiating, and planning skills. Therefore, efforts to attract youth into agribusiness should focus on the use of media, the creation of awareness of available agribusiness initiatives in their area, and the setup of land policy. This is in addition to putting in place capacity-building programs on entrepreneurial and business skills through incubators, and the formalization of youth agribusiness groups that foster capitalizing experiences between new and accelerated agripreneurial enterprises, with the support of parents and financial institutions, focusing on gender sensitivity, in both rural and urban areas. Exploration geologists are urged to develop new, robust, and low-cost approaches to identify high potential zones related to underground/unexplored mineral deposits because of increased depletion of ore deposits and high consumption of basic metal production industries. Fusing remote sensing, geophysical and geological data has great capability to provide a complete range of prerequisite data to accomplish this purpose. This investigation fuses remote sensing data, such as Sentinel-2 and Landsat 7, aerial magnetic geophysical data, and geological data for identifying polymetallic mineralization potential zones in the Chakchak region, Yazd province, Iran. Hydrothermal alteration mineral zones and surface and deep intrusive masses, hidden faults and lineaments, and lithological units were detected using remote sensing, aerial magnetic, and geological data, respectively. The exploratory/information layers were fused using fuzzy logic modeling and the multi-class index overlap method. Subsequently, mineral potential maps were generated for the study area. Some high potential zones of polymetallic mineralization were identified and verified through a detailed field campaign and drilling programs in the Chakchak region. In conclusion, the fusion of remote sensing, geophysical, and geological data using fuzzy logic modeling and the multi-class index overlap method is a robust, reliable, and low-cost approach for mining companies to explore the frontier areas with identical geologic conditions that are alleged to indicate polymetallic mineralization potential. Background and Objectives: The aim was to compare the Misfit of 3D-Printed, Selective laser melting (SLM), milled (Computer aided design-Computer aided manufacture CAD-CAM) and Lost wax technique (LWT) fabricated Cobalt chromium (CoCr) alloy copings on shoulder (SH), radial shoulder (R-SH) and chamfer (CH) finish line configuration. Materials and Methods: Ninety resin, second maxillary premolar teeth were prepared for metal-ceramic crowns, equally divided into (n = 30) SH, R-SH and CH margin preparations. For each preparation design (SH, R-SH and CH), CoCr copings were prepared using SLM, CAD-CAM and LWT. This resulted in nine study groups with 10 CoCr copings each. The marginal misfit of specimens was assessed with a high-resolution digital microscope. Misfit was evaluated in vertical and horizontal dimensions in μm. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and a post hoc multiple comparisons test. Results: For vertical misfit, the highest was observed in SLM samples with chamfer margin (167.96 ± 24.1), and the least was shown by CAD-CAM samples with radial shoulder (58.8 ± 12.53). CAD-CAM and shoulder margins showed the least vertical misfit. For horizontal misfit, the maximum was observed in SLM samples with shoulder margin (137.94 ± 37.85) and the least by LWT samples with chamfer (89.38 ± 14.81). Chamfer margins and LWT samples showed the least horizontal misfit among the group samples. Fabrication technique and finish line design play a critical role in reducing the marginal misfit of CoCr copings. Conclusions: For vertical misfit, SLM copings showed poor outcomes compared to CAD-CAM specimens, however comparable outcomes to Cast specimens. SLM copings showed comparable horizontal misfit outcomes to CAD-CAM specimens and low misfit compared to Cast copings, respectively. Vertical misfit was low with shoulder margins, and horizontal misfit was better with chamfer marginal configuration. Full article
