Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to bridge viral discovery, host immune characterization, and rational vaccine design by integrating viral metagenomics and host transcriptomics approaches. We seek to accelerate next-generation vaccine development against established and emerging viral threats.
We welcome original research and reviews on the following topics:
- Viral metagenomics: Virome diversity and novel virus discovery, genomic surveillance of viral evolution, virus–host interaction mapping, and bioinformatics pipelines for metagenomic analysis
- Host transcriptomics in infection: Host transcriptional responses to viral infection, immune pathway activation, biomarkers of disease severity and outcome, and mechanisms of viral pathogenesis
- Vaccine development applications: Antigen discovery from metagenomic data, transcriptional signatures predicting vaccine efficacy, and immune response characterization for novel vaccine platforms.

Viruses is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
