Dear Colleagues,
The term "emerging zoonotic diseases" refers to illnesses caused by pathogens (bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi, or prions) that are spread from animals to people and that have either just recently emerged in a community or are expanding in frequency or geographic breadth. These infections represent a significant global health risk because they can lead to pandemics, disrupt economies, and present major challenges for healthcare systems. Emerging zoonotic diseases can be transmitted via various pathways, including direct contact, aerosols, and vectors, as well as foods. We are seeing an increase in emerging zoonotic diseases due to a combination of variables that enhance the likelihood of cross-species transmission and human–animal interactions, including urbanization, industrialization, environmental changes, and the destruction of wildlife habitats. We welcome submissions exploring the prevalence, microbial pathogenesis, virulence factors, diagnostics, and antibiotic resistance of pathogens associated with emerging zoonotic diseases. In developing this multidisciplinary platform, we will place a strong emphasis on cooperation between the animal and human health sectors in order to efficiently identify, prevent, control, treat, and manage zoonotic illnesses.
In this Special Issue, we will strive to improve global health security and resilience against future zoonotic threats by bringing together a variety of experts to expand our understanding of zoonoses and promote multisectoral cooperation. For this Special Issue, we invite contributions to the research on emerging zoonotic diseases and/or research in related areas. We welcome research articles, reviews, and case studies that present information on emerging zoonotic diseases.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
