Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue comprises papers from leading researchers and thinkers valuing ecosystem services and sustainability. Ecosystem services are the many and varied benefits that humans freely gain from the natural environment and from properly functioning ecossytems. This Special Issue will focus on state-of-the-art applications of ecosystem valuation techniques but also on the links between valuation and sustainability by exploring how valuation has, or could in the future, contribute to advancing sustainability in the public and private sectors. We will explore the frontiers of ecosystem valuation such as the valuation of cultural services and the issue of scale in designing effective delivery of ecosystem services. Trans and multi-disciplinary approaches are especially encouraged, with topics ranging from sustainable land management, biodiversity, and governance, to sustainability, with a strong focus on synergies with a policy and research impact—in other words, how this research could contribute to greater sustainability in both the private and public sectors. Papers selected for this Special Issue will be subject to a rigorous peer review procedure with the aim of rapid and wide dissemination of research results, developments and applications.
