Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Stringent government regulations and policies result in a growing concern about the economic, social, and environmental aspects of sustainability in different industries. Therefore, service and manufacturing firms have focused on sustainability in their businesses and supply chains. To this end, these firms should define measurable economic, societal, and environmental indexes and monitor them throughout the business to generate both social and environmental benefits alongside financial returns. In addition, these businesses need to apply different management techniques and tools, such as data analytics, optimization, and simulation, to improve their sustainable performance. Although small firms could achieve their goals by implementing mentioned techniques in their operations, many medium and large businesses cannot achieve their goals unless they have a holistic view of their supply chains. Therefore, they must implement proper techniques and tools throughout their supply chains and manage them integrated to achieve the predefined level of sustainability.
