Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Economic growth implies the use of energy consumption. Nevertheless, this energy consumption is usually associated with more emissions and pollution. Therefore, studies on the relationships between energy use and economic growth are of special interest in order to control emissions growth. Several points of view are necessary to understand the relationships between these two variables. How energy use impulses economic growth? How economic growth impulses energy use? Which are the causal relationships between both variables? What are the main differences that can be observed by economic sector? How others variables influence in these relationships? What about openness, urbanization, prices, global warming, etc.? What is happening in specific countries or geographic zones? How can renewable energies contribute to the reduction of emissions caused by energy consumption associated with economic growth? What role can developing and developed countries play? How can emissions control policies influence the social development of developing countries?
