Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, its impact on childhood and the educational landscape for children is profound and multifaceted. This Special Issue will focus on the intersection of childhood, media and the digital transformation of education and explore social and cultural aspects of how digital media
- Shapes learning experiences;
- Influences children’s identity formation and relationships;
- Transforms pedagogical practices;
- Contributes to wider shifts in how childhood is socially constructed.
We invite researchers, educators and practitioners to submit original research articles that examine the role of digital media in the transformation of childhood and education pertaining to children aged 0-18 years. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Children’s engagement with digital media;
- The use of educational apps;
- Social media's role in learning;
- Children’s experiences of multi-modal learning;
- Learning opportunities of on-line gaming;
- The role of AI and VR in education;
- The role of digital tools and pedagogies in supporting access and equal opportunities in education;
- Ethical and pedagogical issues concerning the use of digital technology in education.
We encourage submissions that highlight innovative practices, theoretical frameworks, and empirical studies that address the challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation in educational settings and beyond. Articles that give children a voice regarding the role of digital technology in their lives and learning are particularly welcome.
