Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue will address the link between neurodiversity and emerging technologies, paying special attention to the social, ethical, and cultural implications of these technologies for neurodivergent individuals. It will also seek to examine their impact on social inclusion, identity, and equity. On the other hand, it should be noted that this Special Issue will have an interdisciplinary approach, so contributions can be made from very diverse fields, such as education, sociology, and studies related to science and technology, all from the perspective of disability and neurodivergence. For all of the above, empirical research papers, theoretical articles, and systematic reviews that address any of the aforementioned lines are invited.
The main purpose of this Special Issue is to provide an academic framework to address the socio-educational impact of technological change on the neurodivergent community. It will also seek to promote a deep and rigorous discussion about the benefits and risks of emerging technologies, and how to implement them from an ethical and equitable point of view. Finally, it seeks to generate knowledge that establishes the necessary basis to promote and encourage public policies, educational practices, and technological designs of an inclusive nature.
On the other hand, this Special Issue aims to complement the current literature based on some basic principles, including an interdisciplinary synthesis based on the connection of different scientific fields in order to address the issues to be dealt with from a holistic perspective. Likewise, the Special Issue aims to promote the paradigm of neurodiversity, since it aims to include research that moves away from the deficit model, to explore how to enhance the capabilities of this population through the use of emerging technologies. In addition, the analysis of cutting-edge technologies, a growing area of research that requires ethical and social analysis in the medium- and long-term, will be highlighted. Finally, emerging social issues will be addressed, which is in line with the principles and values of the journal.
Contributions must follow one of the three categories of papers (article, conceptual paper, or review) of the journal and address the topic of the Special Issue.
