Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the launch of this Special Issue focused on the assessment of body composition using sensors and instruments. In recent years, accurate analysis of body composition has become a key component in fields such as health, sports, nutrition, and clinical research. Technological advancements have enabled the development of sophisticated sensors and wearable devices capable of measuring parameters such as muscle mass, body fat, total body water, and bone density with increasing precision.
This Special Issue aims to gather innovative research that utilizes sensors or instruments to assess body composition in various contexts, ranging from clinical environments to sports and wellness applications. We particularly welcome studies that validate new technologies, propose advanced analytical methodologies, or explore the integration of multiple sensors to provide a more comprehensive understanding of body status.
We invite original research articles, systematic reviews, validation studies, meta-analyses, and conceptual papers addressing this topic from a technological, methodological, or applied perspective.
Potential topics to be covered include the following:
- Validation of novel sensors for body composition assessment
- Comparison between traditional methods (e.g., DXA, bioimpedance, anthropometry) and innovative sensor-based approaches
- Clinical applications of sensors for monitoring body composition in patients with chronic conditions
- Use of wearable sensors in sports for tracking muscle mass and body fat
- Assessment of hydration and total body water using non-invasive sensors

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
