On Wednesday, 24 May 2023, MDPI and the journal Sensors (ISSN: 1424-8220) held a webinar titled “5G-Enabled IoT and Digital Twins: Cybersecurity and Resilience”. The webinar focused on the cybersecurity and resilience of 5G-enabled IoT systems employing digital twin (DT) technology for the mitigation of and resilience to cybersecurity threats.

In this webinar, the first speaker was Prof. Joaquin Garcia-Alfaro. He delivered a talk on “Digital Twins and Cybersecurity in Critical Sectors”, focusing on how physical components exchange real-time information with DT, as well as experimental platforms to build DT (including protocols and standards) with the applicability for securing infrastructures.

The second talk was on “5G High-Performance Mobile Broadband Kit for IoT and OT-Cybersecurity Mission-Critical Applications and Infrastructure” by Engr. Emiliano Marquesini. He presented a piece of kit, a state-of-the-art, enterprise-level performance, rugged-portable-5G mobile broadband solution, ideal for helping 5G innovation, proof of concept or lab testing and validation for critical infrastructure projects and initiatives.

The final part of the webinar was an open discussion with webinar chairs and keynote speakers where the challenges and opportunities of cybersecurity and resilience in 5G-enabled IoT and digital twin were discussed. The main takeaway of this discussion was how dynamic and adaptive security solutions can be developed for 5G-enabled IoT systems using DT technology.
