Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature
Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for
future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive
positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world.
Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly
interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the
most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.
As the Editor-in-Chief of Resources, I am pleased to announce the winner of the 2019 Resources Graduate Student/Post-Doc Travel Award: Dr. Zhi Cao, a postdoctoral researcher from University of Southern Denmark (SDU) who joined SDU Life Cycle Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology & Environmental Technology in 2017. His research focuses on the material–energy–emissions nexus in socioeconomic systems and he has developed a component-by-component material flow model for wind power capacities in future energy scenarios, to investigate the demand and secondary supply of materials to 2050 including stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, copper, fiberglass, concrete, neodymium, and dysprosium.
We had several impressive applicants for this award from across the world, and in recognition of the quality of the applications received, one highly commended applicant was awarded the opportunity to publish a suitable article in Resources free of charge: Mr. Mohsen Bazargan, a PhD student from the Earth Science Department, Royal Holloway University of London.
Thank you also to the international evaluation panel for their careful review of applications, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jennifer Broadhurst from University of Cape Town, Assist. Prof. Dr. Simon M. Jowitt from University of Nevada Las Vegas, Prof. Dr. Kazuyo Matsubae from Tohoku University, and Dr. Witold-Roger Poganietz from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
