Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
As the Editor-in-Chief of Resources, I am pleased to announce the winner of the 2018 Resources Graduate Student/Post-Doc Travel Award: Dr. Erika D. Johnson, an NRC Research Associate from the U.S. Naval Research Lab who had just finished her Postdoc at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 2017. Her research focuses on the development of analysis techniques for remotely sensed data that can be applied to riverine and nearshore coastal systems to provide continuous, synoptic characterization of their hydrodynamics in near-real time. The specific outcomes of her research have already impacted the status quo of flow measurement within the United States Geological Survey and will enable improved monitoring and management of estuaries.
We had many impressive applicants for this award from across the world and in recognition of the quality of applications received, one highly commended applicant was awarded the opportunity to publish a suitable article in Resources free of charge. She is: Ms. Wei Weng, a PhD student from the Department of Geography, Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin.
Thank you also to the international evaluation panel for their careful review of applications, Dr. Cara Beal from Griffith University, Dr. Claire Helen Quinn from University of Leeds, Prof. Dr. Arnold Tukker from Leiden University and Assoc. Prof. Xianlai Zeng from Tsinghua University.
