Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

As intelligent processing algorithms are increasingly used in remote sensing, they have delivered remarkable performance improvements in areas like remote sensing image interpretation, space-based SAR processing, and integrated visible/infrared remote sensing information processing. Intelligent algorithms can automatically identify and classify objects in remote sensing images, like land types, crop varieties, and urban structures, reducing manual work and boosting interpretation efficiency and accuracy. For instance, deep-learning-based object detection algorithms can quickly and precisely recognize specific objects such as vehicles and ships from remote sensing images. Intelligent processing methods can analyze remote sensing data from different periods, automatically detecting changes in objects, like land-use changes and alterations in natural disaster impact ranges, providing timely and accurate information for resource management and environmental monitoring. The use of intelligent algorithms offers possibilities for the expansion of remote sensing technology into new fields, such as traffic condition monitoring in intelligent transportation, environmental perception in autonomous driving, and site monitoring in cultural heritage protection.

We plan to launch a Special Issue (titled “Intelligent Interpretation of Remote Sensing Images and Intelligent Processing of Remote Sensing Information”) in the Remote Sensing journal to gather new methods in remote sensing image intelligent interpretation and integrated remote sensing information intelligent processing, covering remote sensing bands and methods such as SAR, infrared and visible optics. We invite researchers and scholars from around the world to contribute their latest findings and insights to this Special Issue. We look forward to receiving your high-quality manuscripts and promoting the development of intelligent interpretation and processing for remote sensing image.

The theme of this Special Issue encompasses the following topics:

1. Intelligent Interpretation of Remote Sensing Images: This topic focuses on the development and application of advanced algorithms for the intelligent interpretation of remote sensing images, aiming to improve the accuracy and efficiency of image analysis, including SAR, infrared and visible optics.

2. Integrated Intelligent Processing of Remote Sensing Information: This topic explores the integration of remote sensing data and information, as well as the development of intelligent processing methods to enhance the overall understanding and utilization of remote sensing information, including SAR, infrared and visible optics.

3. Intelligent Methods for Remote Sensing Target Detection: This topic covers the latest research on intelligent algorithms for detecting targets in remote sensing images (including SAR, infrared and visible optics.), including both traditional and deep learning-based approaches.

4. Intelligent Methods for Remote Sensing Target Tracking and Recognition: This topic addresses the challenges and advancements in remote sensing target tracking and recognition, with a focus on developing intelligent algorithms for real-time and accurate target tracking and recognition.

5. Integration of Remote Sensing Image Target Detection, Tracking, and Recognition: This topic aims to integrate the processes of target detection, tracking, and recognition in remote sensing images, thereby achieving a more comprehensive and efficient analysis of remote sensing data.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
