Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue of the Photonics journal is dedicated to recent exciting results in quantum optical systems. The advancement of quantum optics in the last few decades has now reached a fruitful point where photonics and quantum optical systems are now among the forerunners of the quantum technological era. The success of the photonic paradigm for sensing, storage, computation, and communication, combined with its unique feature of chip-scale integration, can lead to a quantum technology revolution similar to the electronics impact in the 1950s.
To consolidate some of these impactful activities, this Special Issue covers a broad scope of research in Quantum Optical Systems and solicits contributions in, but not limited to:
- Theory of open quantum systems;
- Light–matter interaction;
- Hybrid quantum optical platforms such as optomechanics and superconducting circuit quantum electrodynamics;
- Topological and chiral quantum optics;
- Waveguide quantum electrodynamics;
- Exciton-Polaritons and Polaron-Polaritons;
- Color centers and 2D materials;
- Photonic quantum simulation and computation;
- Nonlinear quantum optical systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Photonics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
