Open Science Insights: Academic Publishing Workshop with Prof. Dr. Claudio Santi, University of Perugia, 27 January 2025


In collaboration with Prof. Dr. Claudio Santi, University of Perugia, Italy, Molecules (ISSN: 1420-3049) and International Journal of Molecular Science (IJMS, ISSN: 1422-0067) are jointly hosting an author training session designed to educate attendees on the paper publication process and the ecosystem surrounding open access publishing. The session will cover an introduction to not only Molecules and IJMS, but MDPI journals as a collective, delving into the editorial process to provide valuable insights and instilling essential skills for structuring papers and replying to reviewers effectively. Additionally, participants will be instructed on methods to improve their scientific writing, with our expert speakers leading the way to ensure a thorough understanding of how attendees can improve their publishing potential.

Speakers:

Prof. Dr. Claudio Santi, born in Fabriano on July 16, 1967, is an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Perugia. He holds a degree in pharmaceutical sciences and a Ph.D. in chemical sciences, with postdoctoral research conducted at the University of Basel. Since 2013, he has led the Catalysis, Synthesis, and Organic Green Chemistry group and coordinates the international network SeSRedCat. Author of over 200 publications with an H-index of 45 on Scopus, he has been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry since 2017.

Dr. Haewon Song has a research background in organic chemistry and chemical biology. She obtained her chemistry degree from the University of Oxford and gained further research experience at a DNA synthesis company. In 2015, she moved to Switzerland to pursue a Ph.D. at ETH Zurich. After completing her doctorate, she joined MDPI, where she currently works as the Journal Relations Specialist for Molecules and several other chemistry-related journals.

Ms. Jelena Romcevic holds an M.Sc. degree in molecular biology and Physiology, from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, with a special focus on the experimental physiology of animals and humans. She joined MDPI in 2020 as an Assistant Editor for International Journal of Molecular Sciences. Currently a Journal Relations Specialist, she focuses on supporting journals and developing positive relationships with important stakeholders.
