Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Entomology, the study of insects, and malacology, the study of mollusks, play pivotal roles in understanding the complex interactions between hosts, parasites, and the vectors responsible for transmitting them. Comprehending these intricate relationships is crucial to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and develop new treatments, thereby contributing to the improvement in public healthcare worldwide.
This Special Issue, titled ‘Role of Entomology and Malacology in Promoting an Understanding of Parasites and Vectors,’ aims to collate research papers that explore the biology, behavior, and ecology of various vector organisms, such as mosquitoes, ticks, and snails, and elducidate how these vectors contribute to the spread of diseases like malaria, dengue fever, Lyme disease, and schistosomiasis. We also seek to feature articles that provide novel insights into the development of innovative strategies to mitigate the impact of parasitic diseases, ranging from genetic approaches for vector control to the exploration of new drug treatments.
