The 15th International Congress on Yeasts
Dear yeast researchers and friends,
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 15th International Congress on Yeasts to be held at the University of Vienna in the Heart of the City of Vienna, Austria, from August 23 to 27, 2020. The conference is intended to attract all yeast researchers in all fields.
ICY15 is organized by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna under the auspices of the International Commission on Yeasts. Founded in 1966, the International Commission on Yeasts promotes all aspects of yeast research and higher education, and it organizes annual specialized symposia and, every four years, the International Congress on Yeasts.
The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), the Alma Mater Viridis, perceives itself as a teaching and research center for renewable resources, which are necessary for human life. Connecting natural sciences, engineering, and economic sciences, we wish to increase knowledge of the ecologically and economically sustainable use of natural resources. Today BOKU is one of Austria’s leading centers in yeast research, spanning from fundamental research on yeast ecology to its application in food, feed and biopharmaceutical production, as well as the forefront of synthetic biology for renewable production of chemicals.
The symposia and workshops cover up to date research fields and are open for all yeast species. To make sure that the congress gives an overview of the latest developments in yeast research we will focus on keynote lectures, invited speakers and selected contributions of participants.
The University of Vienna is one of the oldest universities in the German-speaking world, founded in 1365 by Duke Rudolph IV. The main university building was erected around 1880 as part of the famous Ringstrasse and is just a few minutes walk from all major sights in the city center.
Vienna is located in the very heart of Europe. Therefore the city can be reached very easily from all destinations over the world. Excellent train connections enable arrival from the neighboring countries, and many international flights connect Vienna globally.
The congress will be opened on Sunday, August 23 with a keynote lecture followed by a welcome reception. Technical sessions will be held from Monday, August 24-27. On Wednesday, August 26 we will invite to a conference dinner.
