Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Metabolomics, the study of the end-stage metabolites from upstream biologic pathways, has the capacity to personalize medicine. Metabolomics has provided insights into the biologic subtypes of diabetes, helped us determine the role of the microbiome in the treatment of hypertension, and improved our understanding of transfusion medicine, among many other treatment advances. This Special Issue of Metabolites, “Metabolomics in Personalized Medicine 2020” is dedicated to personalizing patient care using metabolomics. Original research and review articles will be considered. The topics that will be covered by this Special Issue include, but are not limited to provocative changes in metabolite profiles due to treatments, metabolic predictors of drug effectiveness, determination of metabolite profiles of disease subtypes, markers of adverse drug effects, metabolic changes resulting from long term drug therapy, metabolomics of human genetic variability, and/or patterns of metabolites that suggest potential new drug targets. This Special Issue seeks studies that use metabolomic techniques or metabolomic data analysis techniques to improve our understanding of disease/treatment biology, and ultimately, improve patient care. Review articles of topics with a significant body of literature will be considered, depending on the quality of the data. Manuscripts dealing with other pertinent challenging issues in the field are also highly desired.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Metabolites is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
