Young Investigator Award

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Metabolites 2022 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Wout Bittremieux.
Dr. Wout Bittremieux is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Antwerp in Antwerp, Belgium. Dr. Bittremieux’s research employs advanced computational techniques to solve fundamental biological questions, including developing algorithmic solutions and artificial intelligence methods for the analysis of mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and proteomics data. Dr. Bittremieux received his PhD in 2017 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 51 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Bittremieux’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 809 and his Hirsch index is 17. He is clearly a rising star in the field of computational metabolomics. Dr. Bittremieux has secured funding of more than EUR 950,000 since 2019. This is an outstanding achievement in today’s competitive environment. As the awardee, Dr. Wout Bittremieux will receive an honorarium of CHF 2000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge before 31 December 2023 in Metabolites after peer review, and an electronic certificate.
