Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are very pleased to announce that the 27th International Electron Devices and Materials Symposium (IEDMS 2022) will be held at National Chi Nan University, Puli, Nantou, Taiwan, from Oct. 27 to Oct. 28, 2022. This symposium is one of the prestigious conferences in semiconductor materials and devices, which were held successfully every year in Taiwan since more than decades ago. This year, the IEDMS will be hosted by National Chi Nan University and sponsored by The Electronics Devices and Materials Association, Ministry of Science and Technology Taiwan, and Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute.

Membranes in the semiconductor industrial have been proposed for versatile applications such as ion sensing devices, photovoltaic cells, solid-state batteries and water purification systems. Carrier or ion transport mechanisms in semiconductor membranes may dominate the performance of these membrane-based devices. Therefore, membrane fabrication technology is crucial to the efficiency of these semiconductor devices. To gain insight into the membrane quality, material characterizations, electrical measurements, and chemical analysis to monitor the membrane fabrication. The potential applications of semiconductor membranes cover a broad-spectrum of functioning devices including energy conversion, sensors, energy storage devices, water purification filters, etc.

The current Special Issue of Membranes aims to propose state-of-the-art research and future advancement in this area. The Special Issue covers the fabrication of materials, performance of devices, and the theory examination based on Semiconductor Membranes.

Research fields may include (but not limited to) the following: Solid-state batteries, ion-sensitive field effect transistors, extended gate field effect transistors, gas sensors, photodetectors, water purification membranes, and photovoltaic devices. Novel membrane materials and applications, as well as electronic devices, chemical analysis, and medical studies, will also be considered.

We invite attendees of the “IEDMS2022” to submit their high-quality manuscripts to this Special Issue.

In addition, suitable contributions from other interested professionals are also welcome.

We look forward to your participation and contribution.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Membranes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
