A Commemorative Special Issue in Honor of Professor Eric Favre

We warmly invite you to support this Special Issue of Membranes in honor of Professor Eric Favre by submitting original work or review articles.

Eric Favre is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Industries Chimiques (ENSIC). He was director of the Energy, Mechanics, Processes and Products department (EMPP) and member of the executive committee at Université de Lorraine (France). He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from INPL (Nancy). Professor Favre’s research activities on separation processes started at EPFL (Switzerland) on membrane bioreactors and at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota (USA), where he was a visiting scientist in 1989. Since 1998, he has been working at the Laboratoire Réactions et Génie des Procédés (LRGP), CNRS, Nancy. Professor Favre’s research interests cover chemical engineering studies of gas and liquid separation, including membrane and hybrid processes, the description of mass and heat transfer, modeling and intensification of separation processes, discovering bottlenecks and other issues of different technologies application. Eric Favre is the author of more than 200 scientific works. He is the former deputy president of the French membrane society (Club Français des Membranes), founding member of Fondation Ensic, a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Membrane Science and of other journals in the area of membranes and membrane science and technology. He received the French Society of Chemical Engineering award in 1994, the Montgolfier Prize in 1998 and a national teaching award (Palmes Académiques) in 2006 and 2019.

People who have communicated with Professor Favre, along with his professional qualities, know of his friendliness and excellent sense of humor.

This Special Issue will accept works dealing with fundamental studies of gas and vapor transfer in membranes and practical application of membrane-based separation processes. Studies may be experimental and/or theoretical including the modeling of mass transfer. Fields of interest include but are not limited to gas separation, pervaporation, membrane distillation, and hybrid separation processes.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Membranes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
