Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The landscape of oncology is undergoing a radical transformation, moving away from traditional cytotoxic regimes toward highly personalized, molecularly driven interventions. This special issue, "Insights into Modern Cancer Treatment," provides a comprehensive exploration of the latest breakthroughs redefining the standard of care in 2026. As we move deeper into the era of precision medicine, understanding the synergy between novel therapeutics and diagnostic innovations has never been more critical. We invite original research, systematic reviews, and clinical perspectives that examine the diverse facets of contemporary oncology. Key areas of focus include the advancement of next-generation immunotherapies, the integration of artificial intelligence in treatment planning, and the emergence of targeted protein degraders. Furthermore, this issue addresses the clinical challenges of drug resistance and the importance of multi-modal strategies in improving long-term patient outcomes. Beyond the advancement of next-generation immunotherapies and targeted protein degraders, this issue places a significant focus on patient safety and toxicity management. We seek contributions that address the monitoring and mitigation of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) and the long-term sequelae of chronic targeted therapies. By synthesizing diverse viewpoints from bench to bedside, this collection aims to serve as a definitive resource for clinicians and researchers striving to navigate—and shape the future of cancer management. Through these shared insights, we seek to illuminate the pathways that will lead to more effective, less toxic, and truly curative outcomes for patients worldwide.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Medical Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
