Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite researchers and practitioners to submit their original contributions to this Special Issue of Mathematics (Section E: Applied Mathematics) entitled “Mathematical Modeling and Optimal Control of Infectious Diseases”. Infectious disease dynamics continue to pose major challenges to public health worldwide, highlighting the need for advanced mathematical approaches to understand transmission mechanisms, evaluate intervention strategies, and support evidence-based decision making. This Special Issue aims to bring together high-quality research on mathematical modeling, optimal control, data-driven methods, and related analytical and computational techniques that contribute to the prevention and management of infectious diseases. We welcome innovative theoretical developments as well as interdisciplinary applications addressing contemporary epidemiological challenges.

Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
