Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue explores mathematical modeling and numerical analysis for advanced image processing and computational intelligence, targeting fundamental visual perception tasks including visual object detection, multi-object tracking as well as semantic and instance segmentation. Traditional visual processing methods often rely on empirical design without rigorous mathematical characterization, leading to limited spatio-temporal modeling capacity, unreliable cross-frame target association and weak generalization in dynamic complex scenarios. This issue attaches great importance to spatio-temporal memory modeling and vision-oriented mathematical optimization theories, striving to build numerically stable, interpretable and robust computational frameworks for dynamic image and video feature modeling and intelligent inference.

It further promotes the interdisciplinary integration of computational intelligence and cross-modal visual semantics, focusing on multi-modal representation learning and visual language models. This scope covers numerical optimization strategies for cross-modal semantic alignment and heterogeneous feature fusion, which bridge low-level visual feature extraction and high-level semantic comprehension. To tackle the poor interpretability of conventional data-driven visual algorithms, this issue incorporates dynamic knowledge graph construction and evolutionary mining techniques. Combined with quantitative knowledge correlation analyses, these knowledge-driven paradigms effectively mitigate the black-box limitations of pure data models, significantly enhancing the interpretability, stability and adaptability of intelligent visual perception systems.

We invite original research works focusing on mathematical modeling, numerical analysis and algorithm optimization for image processing and computational intelligence. Accepted topics cover innovative computational paradigms for deep video understanding, spatio-temporal perception and cross-modal intelligent learning, with practical applications in intelligent visual analysis, dynamic video monitoring, cross-modal computational perception and interpretable intelligent computing systems. This Special Issue aims to collect state-of-the-art research outcomes, facilitate the integration of mathematical numerical analysis and computational intelligence in visual perception and advance the theoretical innovation and practical deployment of high-performance visual processing technologies.
