Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite original submission to this Special Issue of Mathematics, ‘Advances in Mathematical Modeling and Applications’. This Special Issue aims to compile recent advances in the application of mathematical modeling approaches and techniques to understand and solve a wide range of complex societal problems, challenges, and natural phenomena across all scales. This Special Issue will provide valuable insights for the journal’s readership, including researchers, engineers, and practitioners.

Mathematical modeling has become an essential and practical tool for addressing many of the challenges faced by modern society, as well as for understanding the processes occurring in nature. These problems are often highly complex and involve multiple interacting components. Modeling applies mathematical expressions and equations to describe underlying processes and mechanisms across varying levels of complexity. By imposing appropriate assumptions and constraints to reduce complexity based on a physical understanding of the real world, analytical or numerical solutions of the resulting model equations can be obtained using mathematical theories and methodologies. These models provide a robust framework for analyzing emerging patterns, predicting system behavior, and supporting evidence-based scientific decision-making.

Submissions focusing on mathematical modeling and simulation are particularly welcome, especially those involving applications in biology, chemistry, ecology, epidemiology, engineering (including civil, environmental, and industrial), environmental diffusion, heat transfer, finance, fluid mechanics (e.g., rivers, lakes, estuaries, coasts, constructed waterways), industrial and real-world applications, medicine, physics, or transport phenomena (heat, mass, and momentum).

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
