7–11 April 2019, Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
US-IALE 2019 Annual Meeting

The meeting will bring together leaders in landscape ecology who are dedicated to preserving and protecting our natural resources, including educators and practitioners in the fields of geology, ecology, biology, geography, urban and regional planning, and landscape preservation and design. Highlights will include in-depth, hands-on workshops, thought-provoking plenary sessions, special symposia and contributed papers, oral presentations and posters, scientific excursions, and numerous social and networking opportunities.

Innovation can happen at different levels and scales of work, from methods to research design to how people collaborate. Efforts within the field of landscape ecology have called for the infusion of design science, sustainability science, and creative conservation. Often the emergence of new and cost-effective technologies sparks innovation, including: open and ready access to remotely-sensed imagery, genetic sequencing, camera traps and acoustic monitoring, UAVs (drones), social media and network analysis, and machine learning techniques. And the design of projects can benefit from the maturation of user-centered design and other collaborative processes that support creativity.

Finally, at the personal level, innovation takes time -- what are ways to foster it, cultivate it? What about your passions, tracking of ideas, expanding experiences particularly from outside our field, taking things apart and putting them back together, and searching for patterns and connections?
