Research on Life Cycle Analysis of Ocean Engineering

Dear Colleagues,

Lifecycle analyses have become a more mature field over the years. However, there are still challenges. This Special Issue focuses on these challenges, how to solve them, and how to implement them. Papers that focus on environmental impact, costs, and/or energy issues in a lifecycle perspective are welcomed. The social aspect of sustainability is not prioritized, but innovative papers will obviously be considered. The Special Issue invites review papers, methodological papers with real-life examples, and conceptual papers provided they have clear discussions on implementation and case studies. Case studies can concern a number of aspects related to the ocean, including energy production, deep sea mining, seabed exploration, and so on as long as they are within the general subject areas of the journal. Additionally, papers that discuss real-life challenges, without necessarily having a solution, are welcomed. Such papers can be highly valuable for future research and should be positioned like that. Naturally, an ocean engineering, marine or maritime context is beneficial, but not an absolute requirement provided that the relevance for marine/maritime/ocean engineering is discussed clearly.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
