Dear Colleagues,
Valve and aortic surgery has undergone remarkable transformation over the past decade, driven by continuous advances in surgical techniques, transcatheter interventions, imaging technologies, perioperative management, and multidisciplinary heart team decision-making. These developments have expanded therapeutic options and improved patient outcomes while simultaneously introducing new challenges regarding patient selection, procedural planning, long-term durability, and lifelong surveillance.
This Special Issue, "Contemporary Practice in Valve and Aortic Surgery," aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current concepts, emerging technologies, and future directions in the management of valvular heart disease and thoracic aortic pathology. We warmly invite submissions of original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, technical reports, case series, and expert perspectives covering topics such as valve repair and replacement, minimally invasive and transcatheter therapies, valve-sparing aortic root surgery, aortic aneurysm and dissection, hybrid procedures, advanced imaging, perioperative strategies, clinical outcomes, and translational research.
By bringing together contributions from leading clinicians and researchers, this Special Issue seeks to foster scientific exchange, highlight innovative approaches, and support the continued evolution of evidence-based care for patients with valve and aortic disease.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
