Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The work environment is a set of materials and social factors that employees encounter during the performance of tasks. According to the Constitution of the International Labor Organization, "Every worker, in any profession, has the right to adequate protection of his life and health" (Declaration of Philadelphia).

The report of the European Agency for Occupational Safety and Health (Priorities for occupational safety and health research in Europe: 2013–2020) proves that psychosocial risks are one of the most important challenges for employees' health. In some publications, the authors prove that the multifaceted phenomenon of work efficiency depends on many variables, such as employee's personal characteristics, shift work, stress level, social support, interpersonal relations, or organizational culture. The work environment can also be directly related to patient safety, e.g., the number of adverse events or work–life balance disorder. Research addressing these topics is invited for this Special Issue, especially seeking knowledge on the relationship between selected work environment factors and the health and social effects of employees.
