Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Hearing loss is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions worldwide, affecting over 1.5 billion people. Adults with hearing loss are at increased risk of social isolation, reduced physical activity, and mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. Despite the growing recognition of these interconnected outcomes, hearing health care has traditionally focused on auditory rehabilitation, often overlooking broader determinants of health and wellbeing.
This Special Issue will bring together cutting-edge research and practice reports that explore the complex, multidimensional needs of adults with hearing loss. We welcome contributions exploring health promotion, behavior changes, psychosocial support, physical activity interventions, and the integration of digital health solutions into routine audiological care. Interdisciplinary approaches that bridge audiology, psychology, public health, and rehabilitation sciences are particularly encouraged.
By advancing our understanding of how to promote physical, mental, and social wellbeing in this population, this Special Issue will inform holistic, person-centered strategies that move beyond hearing loss management toward supporting healthier lives for adults living with this condition.
