Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, “Advances in Fungal Pathogen Genetics”, aims to highlight cutting-edge omics research on fungal pathogenicity, with particular emphasis on host infection, environmental stress response, and developmental processes. Fungal pathogens pose major threats to agriculture, ecosystems, and human health, and understanding their adaptive mechanisms is essential for revealing how they colonize hosts, tolerate stress, and evolve under selective pressures. We invite original research articles and reviews that apply transcriptomics, genomics, epigenomics, and integrative multi-omics strategies to uncover virulence determinants, infection-associated signaling pathways, host–pathogen interactions, genetic variation, population structure, and mechanisms of evolutionary adaptation. Contributions exploring the molecular foundations of pathogenic development, niche specialization, and epigenetic regulation are especially encouraged. This Special Issue will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and a comprehensive resource for advancing fungal pathogen genetics.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Genes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
