Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and molecular markers are complementary tools for investigating genome organization, genetic variation, chromosome biology, and genome dynamics in plants and fungi. Flow cytometry is widely used for genome size estimation, ploidy assessment, cell-cycle analysis, endoreduplication measurement, chromosome and nuclei sorting, and evaluation of genome stability. Fluorescence and confocal microscopy provide spatial information on nuclei, chromosomes, and chromatin within intact tissues, whereas molecular markers enable analyses of genetic diversity, population structure, systematics, evolution, and genome dynamics. This Special Issue, “Integrative Applications of Flow Cytometry, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Molecular Markers in Plant and Fungal Genetics,” welcomes original research articles, short communications, reviews, and methodological papers. We invite contributions that combine or apply these approaches in basic and applied genetic research, including studies on polyploidy, genome stability during in vitro culture, genetic responses to environmental stress, chromosome and nuclei sorting, developmental genetic mechanisms, and agricultural or horticultural applications. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary studies integrating cytometric, microscopic, and molecular data to advance understanding of plant and fungal genetics, genome evolution, and genetic diversity.
