Genetic and Epigenetic Mechanisms in Animal Reproduction

Dear Colleagues,

The regulation of reproductive processes in animals is governed by intricate genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that coordinate gene expression, cellular differentiation, and tissue development. Recent advances in genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenetic profiling have greatly expanded our understanding of how DNA methylation, histone modification, noncoding RNAs, and chromatin remodeling influence gametogenesis, fertilization, embryogenesis, and reproductive efficiency. These discoveries not only deepen our insight into the molecular basis of fertility and reproductive disorders but also provide new opportunities for improving reproductive performance in livestock and advancing animal biotechnology.

For this Special Issue, titled “Genetic and Epigenetic Mechanisms in Animal Reproduction,” we welcome submissions of original research articles, reviews, and short communications focusing on genetic, epigenetic, and molecular regulatory pathways underlying animal reproduction, with the goal of highlighting recent breakthroughs and future directions in this rapidly evolving field.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Genes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
