Viruses 2022 - At the Leading Edge of Virology Research

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the conference Viruses 2022At the Leading Edge of Virology Research, to be held virtually 5-8 April 2022.

As we enter the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the central importance of virology to all aspects of the human enterprise has never been clearer. The pandemic starkly illustrates the impact that viruses can have on human health and activity, as well as underscoring how advances in virus research can rapidly mitigate the most severe outcomes. While the COVID-19 pandemic has been on everyone’s mind, we should not lose sight of the significance of other viral infections or overlook the utility of viruses or viral components that can be harnessed to serve useful and important functions; nor should we ignore the power of viral systems in studies across a wide range of biomedical disciplines, including molecular and cell biology, immunology, chemical biology, evolutionary biology, and structural biology.

This conference is sponsored by MDPI, the publisher of the open-access journal Viruses, and follows the very successful meetings Viruses 2016—At the Forefront of Virus-Host Interactions (January 2016; Basel, Switzerland), Viruses 2018—Breakthroughs in Viral Replication (February 2018; Barcelona, Spain), and Viruses 2020—Novel Concepts in Virology (February 2020; Barcelona, Spain). Like these previous conferences, Viruses 2022 will cover a wide range of topics of interest to participants. In addition to invited talks from world-renowned virologists, the conference will feature oral presentations and posters selected from submitted abstracts.

I, and the Viruses 2022 Scientific Committee (Drs. Shan-Lu Liu, Mark Young, Britt Glaunsinger, Kathy Spindler, Veronique Ziegler-Graff), look forward to your participation in this exciting conference.

Viruses 2022 Chair and
