Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Biodiesel, as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional diesel fuel, has garnered significant attention over the years due to its diverse range of feedstock sources. The evolution of biodiesel production, categorised into first, second, third, and fourth generations, reflects the innovation and progress in this field. Nevertheless, while biodiesel production has been a focal point for scientific exploration over the past century, there are emerging aspects that demand further investigation within this dynamic domain.

Scope of the Special Issue:

In light of the evolving landscape of biodiesel production, this proposal extends an invitation to researchers, scholars, and experts in the field to contribute to a Special Issue in Energies. We seek to address two pivotal areas that currently present challenges and hold immense promise:

1. Continuous vs. Batch Reactors in Biodiesel Production:

The utilisation of continuous and batch reactors in biodiesel production has sparked considerable debate and generated substantial interest among researchers. We encourage submissions that delve into the differences, advantages, and drawbacks of these two approaches. Exploring the optimal conditions and evaluating their respective impacts on biodiesel quality and efficiency will provide valuable insights for the industry.

2. Economic Feasibility in Biodiesel Production:

In an era where sustainability and cost-effectiveness are paramount, assessing the economic viability of biodiesel production is critical. We invite contributions that investigate the economic aspects of biodiesel production, including cost analysis, feasibility studies, and innovative strategies for reducing production expenses. Research in this area can steer the biodiesel industry toward greater economic sustainability.

Conclusion:

The importance of biodiesel as a renewable energy source cannot be overstated, and its continued evolution is essential for a greener future. This Special Issue in Energies aims to shed light on these crucial and contemporary topics within the biodiesel production landscape. We encourage researchers to engage with these themes, share their findings, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this field. Your valuable insights and contributions will undoubtedly shape the future of biodiesel production and propel it to new heights of sustainability and efficiency.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
