Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue seeks to deepen scholarly engagement with the evolving relationship between international economics and sustainable development, as global integration, environmental pressures, and social disparities reshape policy debates. As economies become increasingly interconnected, the need to understand how cross‑border economic activity can be aligned with long‑term ecological and social objectives has never been more urgent. This Special Issue provides a dedicated platform for interdisciplinary research that examines how global economic systems might be redesigned to support sustainability transitions.
Its core focus centers on combining cross-border trade, FDI, global finance and transnational production with sustainable development goals, striving to balance globalization, environmental conservation and social equity amid prevalent climate and resource crises. Covering theoretical, empirical and policy research, its wide scope includes green trade, climate finance, global value chain reform and institutional impacts on sustainability, prioritizing submissions from emerging and developing economies.
Three core purposes are defined: enriching interdisciplinary academic exchanges, developing feasible sustainability-oriented policies, and delivering empirical evidence for real-world decision-makers. This Special Issue seeks to fill research gaps between conventional international economics and independent sustainable development scholarship, constructing an integrated analytical framework to foster a more sustainable, inclusive global economic system.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-anonymized peer-review process. Economies is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
