About Diabetology


Diabetology (ISSN 2673-4540) is an international, peer-reviewed scientific open-access journal that provides an advanced forum for studies related to epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, pathogenesis, management, complications, and prevention of diabetes, including the molecular, biochemical, and physiological aspects of diabetes. The journal publishes reviews, regular research papers, and communications in quarterly issues. Therefore, there is no restriction on the maximum length of the papers. Full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced.

  1. Epidemiology of Diabetes
    • Geographical variations
    • Age, sex and ethnicity variations
    • Occupational, lifestyle and weight related variations
  2. Etiology and Pathogenesis of Diabetes
    • Type 1 diabetes mellitus: autoimmune system defects; genetic factors; environmental factors
    • Type 2 diabetes: impaired insulin secretion; insulin resistance; genetic factors; environmental factors
    • Etiology and pathogenesis of gestational diabetes mellitus and other specific types
  3. Pathophysiology of Diabetes
    • Type 1 diabetes mellitus: glucose metabolism; lipid metabolism; protein metabolism
    • Type 2 diabetes mellitus: normal glucose tolerance; impaired glucose tolerance; glucose tolerance; minimal fasting hyperglycemia; overt fasting hyperglycemia
    • Pathophysiology of gestational diabetes mellitus and other specific types
  4. Diagnosis of Diabetes
    • Diagnosis of both types of diabetes: random plasma test; fasting plasma glucose test; oral glucose tolerance test; glycated proteins; glycated hemoglobin; fructosamine test
