Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Catalytic technologies are at the forefront of tackling the world's most pressing energy and environmental challenges. The intersections of thermocatalysis, photocatalysis, and electrocatalysis offer exciting opportunities for sustainable chemical synthesis, clean fuel production, and environmental remediation. By harnessing the synergies among thermal, solar, and electrical energy inputs, these advanced and coupled catalytic processes offer the potential to improve reaction efficiencies, reduce energy consumption and contribute to a carbon-neutral future. This Special Issue will provide an overview of the latest advancements in catalysis, reaction mechanisms, material innovations and process intensification that bridge thermal, photochemical, and electrochemical pathways. We look forward to receiving high-quality contributions on advancements in this dynamic research field and inspirations for future research and potential industrial applications.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Advanced materials for thermo-, photo-, and electrocatalytic applications;

- Synergistic catalytic systems (e.g., photothermal, photoelectrocatalytic, and electrothermal processes);

- Catalytic conversion for sustainable energy (e.g., CO2 reduction, nitrogen fixation);

- Water splitting and clean hydrogen production technologies;

- In situ and operando characterizations of complex catalytic systems;

- Theoretical modeling, simulations, and machine learning.

Submission Guidelines:

Authors are invited to submit original research articles and review papers that align with the themes of this Special Issue. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the highest standards of quality and scientific merit.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Chemistry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
