Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature
Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for
future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive
positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world.
Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly
interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the
most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.
As Editor-in-Chief of Biosensors, I am very pleased to announce that the winner of the 2019 Travel Award, sponsored by Biosensors, is Ulri Lee, a Ph.D. student from University of Washington, who will be supported with 800 Swiss Francs towards travel expenses to attend international conferences in 2019.
Ulri has already published her work on fabricating microfluidic channels using rapid injection molding and biphasic open microfluidic systems for liquid– liquid extraction. Her current PhD work focuses on applying microfluidic principles to technology development to a novel 3D printing method and capturing microbial volatiles and bioaerosols. The aim of her work is to develop advanced devices that enable the advancement of our understanding of the natural world without some of the limitations of current standardized platforms.
Yours sincerely, Dr. Jeff D. Newman Editor-in-Chief, Biosensors
