Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

I am the Guest Editor of a Special Issue for Behavioral Sciences on the topic of Education for Autistic Children and Young People. I invite you to consider submitting an abstract for this Special Issue, the aim of which is to bring together the most recent ideas and research in the autism and education field. In this Special Issue, we are particularly interested in strengths-informed approaches to autism and education, situated within a neurodiversity paradigm, underpinned by high-quality research. The age range is approximately 3–25 years. Submissions focusing on secondary/high school education and alternative settings are particularly welcome, as are studies drawn from low- and middle-income countries.

Topics can include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Issues autistic children and young people can experience in education settings;
  • Alternative education settings, e.g., forest schools;
  • Monotropism and education;
  • Communication and education;
  • Socialization and friendship making in education settings;
  • Educational outcomes;
  • Teacher training;
  • Educational inclusion;
  • Autistic teachers and other autistic staff, including school leaders;
  • Issues of autism, education, and gender;
  • Issues of autism, education, and race;
