Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Diagnostic imaging is constantly evolving and has become one of the most progressive branches of veterinary medicine in recent years. It now enables more precise diagnoses, allowing us to specify and evaluate findings that are often critical in determining a patient's outcome.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, which aims to publish high-quality scientific studies focused on the use of diagnostic imaging (e.g., ultrasound, radiology, CT, MRI) as a pivotal tool in diagnosing pathologies. We encourage submissions that summarize findings within a specific pathological context, utilizing both established and novel technologies such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound, elastography, or PET-CT. There are no restrictions on the type of pathology; contributions may address neurological, musculoskeletal, or systemic conditions.
The key objectives of this Special Issue are to collate research on the following topics:
- Pathological ultrasound findings visible and not visible on CT;
- Data comparing the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound versus CT in various clinical scenarios;
- The utility of advanced techniques, such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound, in the evaluation of diverse pathologies;
- The development of imaging measures or criteria that aid in categorizing neoplasms or diseases, which may correlate with outcomes such as survival times.
We welcome studies on both common and rare pathologies, especially those reporting specific findings not yet widely published or those describing imaging findings directly related to pathologies, even if not pathognomonic.
We look forward to receiving your innovative contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
