Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Ungulates, comprising approximately 300 species, are highly prosperous herbivores that live in a wide variety of environments, from rainforests to temperate forests, savannas, steppe, tundra, and mountainous areas. Depending on the diversity of their habitats, they exhibit highly diverse foraging ecology, from browsers to glazers, and anti-predator behaviors. They exhibit a very diverse social system, from solitary to aggregations numbering in the thousands and from monogamous territories to highly polygynous leks. Moreover, some species show intraspecies or intraindividual variation in social behavior, providing an opportunity to explore the links between behavior and ecological and evolutionarily factors. Therefore, ungulates are ideal targets for behavioral ecology. This Special Issue calls for manuscripts that focus on the behavioral ecology of ungulates, especially their social behavior and communication, e.g., social systems, mating, grouping, rearing, scent-marking, vocalization, display, etc.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
