Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As global demand for seafood continues to rise, aquaculture has become one of the fastest-growing food production sectors. However, its environmental impact—particularly its carbon footprint—raises pressing concerns for sustainable development and climate resilience. This Special Issue aims to explore transformative strategies and innovative technologies that can lead aquaculture toward a zero-carbon future. This Special Issue invites submissions of original research articles, reviews, case studies, and perspectives that focus on low-emission and carbon-neutral aquaculture systems specifically relating to the following factors: renewable energy integration in aquaculture operations; Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of aquaculture products; low-impact feed formulations and sustainable sourcing; net-zero aquaculture system designs and technologies; innovations in integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA); and climate-smart aquaculture planning and adaptation strategies.
