Green Nutrition Strategies for Sustainable Livestock Production

The Special Issue, “Green Nutrition Strategies for Sustainable Livestock Production”, explores novel pathways that balance the demand for high-quality animal products with the pressing need for environmental integrity and resource efficiency. The primary focus is on combining sustainable feed resources, advanced nutritional interventions, and innovative feed additives such as probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, postbiotics, organic acids, enzymes, and phytobiotics. The scope covers all aspects of green nutritional management, ranging from precision nutrition and methane inhibitors to circular economy approaches such as byproduct utilization. These efforts aim to improve animal health while reducing the ecological footprint of livestock systems. The purpose of this Special Issue is to create a platform for original research and reviews that propose transformative strategies for resilient, resource-efficient, and health-promoting livestock production, ultimately supporting food security and human wellbeing.

This Special Issue adds to the existing literature by synthesizing recent advancements and showcasing cross-disciplinary approaches that bridge the gaps among animal nutrition, environmental science, and practical applications. While previous work has addressed individual aspects of sustainability, this Issue emphasizes an integrated systems approach through collaborative science and innovative case studies. The collection will provide timely perspectives, rigorous solutions, and actionable insights not only for researchers but also for policymakers and industry, solidly anchoring green nutrition at the core of sustainable livestock production for the future.
