Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Ensuring the stability of food supply has become a critical priority for global food security, particularly in light of contemporary challenges such as resource scarcity, climate change, geopolitical tensions, pandemics, and market volatility.

This Special Issue, titled “Strategies and Mechanisms for Enhancing Food Supply Stability”, invites the submission of original and innovative research that addresses the multifaceted issue of food security and related implications, with a particular emphasis on its interconnection with food supply stability.

The aim of this Special Issue is to advance our understanding and foster the development of innovative, sustainable strategies that offer actionable insights for both policymakers and practitioners. It adopts an integrated, nexus-based approach that combines multiple dimensions—economic, environmental, social, and political—in order to develop robust solutions for stabilizing food access. By encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers, policymakers, farmers, and other stakeholders, this Special Issue seeks to contribute meaningful perspectives and practical solutions to promote global food security and supply stability.

We welcome original research articles, review papers, and case studies on topics including, but not limited to, the following:

- How primary production of food can support the ensuring of food security and food stability.

- How food processing can play a relevant role in enhancing food security.

- How the logistics and distribution sector can ensure long-term food access.

- What measures can be designed to improve economic access to food (as the ability of individuals and households to purchase food, and includes elements pertaining to the price of food and to household income, which is available for food purchase).

- How to inform and educate consumers to adopt sustainable lifestyles in order to prevent food waste.

Submissions from a wide range of geographical contexts are strongly encouraged, in recognition of the global scope of these challenges and the importance of regional specificities in shaping local responses.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
