Int. J. Neonatal Screen., Volume 12, Issue 1 (March 2026) – 18 articles
Newborn screening (NBS) is a cornerstone of public health, enabling presymptomatic detection and timely intervention for inherited disorders.
A survey across Southeastern and Central Europe shows progress in infrastructure and program expansion, compared with the previous survey, reflecting not only the strengthening of existing programs but important steps toward establishing comprehensive NBS in countries where screening had previously been absent or limited.
Key priorities identified include improving laboratory quality standards, reducing false-positive results, and strengthening parental and public awareness, as well as adherence to best practices and enhanced regional collaboration. View this paper
