Course and aspects of the forensic-psychiatric assessment of the capacity of adult witnesses to testify The article gives an overview of the procedure for the forensic-psychiatric processing of a rare question in criminal proceedings. The assessment of the capacity to testify is the first step in the process of assessing the credibility of a (witness) statement. Psychological disorders can impair the ability to give a «testimony that can be used in court», but it is rare that the ability to testify has to be denied because of psychopathological abnormalities. Personality disorders, in particular, do not justify fundamental doubts about the witness's ability to testify; rather, the abnormalities associated with this diagnosis should be taken into account in the further psychological assessment of the testimony. Juvenile delinquents, meaning offenders who are younger than 18 years old, in Switzerland have been and still are a socially and politically controversial topic. After decreasing for several years, the statistical numbers showed a slight but constant increase in juvenile delinquency over the past five years. In this review article the authors describe the progression and development of juvenile delinquency, introduce the main theories and explanations relat ed to juvenile delinquency from different viewpoints and give an over-view of «what works?» concerning young people who exhibit delinquent behaviour with special consideration of the Swiss juvenile system. Because juvenile delinquency has multidimensional origins, the authors argue that a multidimensional approach is necessary in order to be effective in prevent-ing crime. Full article
