Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The following revisions should be done before next round of review:

(1) In the Introduction section, the authors should clearly state the key innovative aspect of their model in comparison to existing models. This will help readers understand the unique contribution of this study.

(2) Apparent permeability is a crucial characteristic of shale. The authors are advised to refer to the studies “Real gas transport in tapered noncircular nanopores of shale rocks” and “Nanoscale pore size distribution effects on gas production from fractal shale rocks” for a comprehensive introduction to apparent permeability.

(3) The authors need to explain why natural fractures were not considered in this study. Including the rationale for this exclusion will enhance the reader's understanding of the study's scope and methodology.

(4) The paper should address how varying boundary conditions influence the results. A detailed analysis of this aspect is essential to comprehend the model's applicability and robustness under different scenarios.

(5) It is important for the authors to discuss the limitations of their model. Acknowledging these limitations will provide a more balanced and realistic evaluation of the model’s capabilities and potential areas for future improvement.
