The manuscript by Gregory Habig, et al explains the causal relationship with sarcopenia in the non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) state due to metabolic syndrome, and describes the diagnosis and improvement of reduced muscle function and role.

In this review, authors explain when obesity and diabetes occur, fat accumulates in the liver, causing inflammation, and NASH secretes cytokines through the bloodstream, causing muscle atrophy and catabolic action, resulting in muscle loss.

Therefore, this review is helpful in understanding the trends in the field, so I recommend this paper to be published in Metabolites.

Habig and colleagues have reviewed the Presence and Implications of Sarcopenia in Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis. The review is brief but well written and easy to follow.

I have only some minor criticisms and suggestions:

  1. The authors might have missed some important or up to date references.
  2. The authors could have discussed about the role of myosteatosis and NASH.
  3. The authors must have discussed about the cross-talk between muscle and liver in Sarcopenic Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis.
