Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript, Towards a Battery-Free Wake-up Radio, proposes contribution to the development of autonomous wake-up radios from the energy supply perspective. The authors presented the WuRx and defined the energy requirement for its power supply. In addition, the author also designed, implemented, and then measured the energy harvesting circuit, able to power up the quasi-passive WuRx. In the end, the authors built the rectifier on a high-efficiency

the substrate which increases its performance and reduces its form factor. Overall, the major conclusions of this manuscript are quite obvious and supported by both the experiment and test results. Besides, validation and analysis were completed diligently. There are several suggestions for the author to improve the quality of the manuscript.

  1. The references need to be re-formatted following the journal requirements.
  2. The figure 9 and 13 can be merged to a single figure.

As such, I recommend the manuscript can be accepted

Author Response

Dear reviewer

  • on the first point, the document has been formatted with the corresponding reference
  • The is no link between fig 9 and fig 13. Do you mind fig 9 and fig 12 ?

Regards

Reviewer 2 Report

The presented work is up to date and very useful for the researchers. Moreover, include information for the given comments in the main paper:

  • There is a need to enhance the state-of-the-art of related work. Kindly include a summary table as per the application, which will include the following information at least:

Reference number, year of publication, domain, main contribution, enhancement requirement/disadvantage, similarity with proposed work. Then list out all possible research gap findings.

  • There are several acronyms throughout the paper. Kindly explain first, then use. kindly update these misleading short forms in the paper
  • Kindly validate the performance of the proposed approach with the literature.
  • The novelty part of the paper is not clear. Kindly create a new heading/section, which is “Related work.” This section includes all recently published work and then prepares a table for all possible research gap findings. Then mention that which one research gap has been overcome in this paper. Then validate the presented results that such work has been attempted 1st time in this paper.
  • Kindly include a diagram for the proposed approach, which can show the whole work done in the paper in a diagram/flow chart.
  • Figure 2 is very generic, and it can be removed from the paper and simply be explained using citation. Is there any research /novelty? Would you please explain in detail?
  • In Fig 3, right-hand side leveling is missing. Kindly complete it

Author Response

Dear reviewer here below are my comments

  • we make sure that all the acronyms is now define before its used
  • The validation of the proposed work is done in Table 2 that show the comparison with other related designs.
  • The novelty lies in the performance of the circuits which give high efficiency and also in the shape using radial stub.
  • fig2 is used for the sake of clarity.

Regards
